What inspiring scene lies beyond the next curve in the road? Anticipate the mystery that awaits you! Jan Bushart enjoys painting those curves in the road and the fresh views they bring.

She has always enjoyed painting from nature. “Painting plein arie (on location) calls for me to immerse myself in the scene. In Hawaii that can involve extreme wind, hot sun and the joy of literally immersing myself into the ocean I an painting.

Jan Bushart graduated from California State University at Chico with a BA in Fine Art. She has shown her work for the last twenty years in California, Colorado, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii. I’ve painted many places from Alaska to Guatemala. Hawaii is my favorite place to paint. The quality of light, the richness of color and the tropical scenery are inspiring. There is a perfect balance of warm and cool here. Unlike the desert where most colors are

warm or the northern mountains where themajority of colors are cool, Hawaii has perfect balance, the perfect climate.

Painting is like a mango. A mango can be yellow, orange, pink and/or green. In can look white in the sun or purple in the shade. Interpreting the essence of a scene can be sweet fruit or the pits. It’s all subject to the artist’s and viewer’s point of view. I hope you enjoy mine.”
